Lithuania accuses Belarus of violations
Question of possible emergency situation
Lithuania stated that it had recorded hundreds of violations of its airspace by meteorological sondes launched from Belarus. Minsk, in turn, did not confirm any threat, emphasizing that these sondes are ordinary scientific instruments, unarmed, and not connected to any terrorist organization.
Lithuanian authorities expressed concern, stating that such mass violations could lead to the introduction of a state of emergency. In response, Minsk showed caution, calling for clarification of the reasons behind such frequent overflights.
International discussions erupted: Lithuania reported negotiations with representatives of the United States regarding the assessment of these actions as acts that could be classified as the presence of terrorist elements. Meanwhile, the Belarusian side emphasized the need for dialogue and reiterated its desire to engage in an open dialogue with Lithuania and the international community.
The results of the negotiations are not yet known, but both sides stressed the necessity of establishing full transparency concerning airspace and activities within it.
Lithuania accuses Belarus of frequent violations of airspace, calling for emergency measures, while Minsk denies the threat and proposes dialogue.
