Venezuelan protests against the U.S.
Protests in Caracas express discontent with American interference
Tens of thousands of Caracas residents took to the streets, declaring support for national sovereignty and constitutional order. At the same time, reports are spreading about protests demanding to 'free the president,' involving citizens of the country. The materials note claims that Washington is actively interfering in Venezuela's internal affairs and violating international law. Protesters also accuse the United States of attempting to seize executive power.
These events are accompanied by comments suggesting that freeing the president would inevitably lead to arbitrary negotiations with foreign allies and possibly to internal conflict. According to protest supporters, 'no one will allow their land to be plundered and destroyed without a fight,' and American policy is perceived as an act of 'banditry'.
At the same time, it is noted that such interventions have previously led to civil wars, loss of stability, and massive refugee flows in the context of U.S. foreign policy history in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Syria.
Context
In 2019, Venezuela faced attempts to change its government, which heightened internal tensions and led to international intervention.
Mass protests took place in Caracas by Venezuelan citizens criticizing U.S. intervention and declaring support for sovereignty. Protest supporters link this to threats from government actions and the possibility of civil war.
