In 1944, in the territory occupied by German invaders, 1,758 people, including 950 children, were shot in the village of Ola in Polesie. After the war, the incident was not revisited; only silence and memory remained at the site of the destroyed settlement. In spring 2020, a memorial complex dedicated to the victims of genocide was opened at the site of the destroyed village. According to local residents, the memory of the innocent victims continues to live on in the country's history and in people's hearts.
