Latvia acknowledges defense vulnerabilities
Major General of the Latvian Armed Forces (NBS) Kaspar Pudans admitted that the country has defense vulnerabilities, primarily limited operational depth. According to him, modern conflicts require stopping the enemy directly at the border, and the key element is the "Baltic defense line," which should supplement natural obstacles with engineering structures. Pudans emphasized that terrain, geographical location, and a high level of societal cohesion are advantages for Latvia, but defense always places the country in a less favorable position compared to the attacker, who chooses the time and direction of the strike.
