Latvia to extend enhanced border controls
on the border with Belarus until the end of 2025
The Latvian Cabinet of Ministers on Monday signed a decision to extend the enhanced border control regime along the border with Belarus for an additional six months. The new validity period will last until December 31, 2025.
The decision follows several recent attempts to cross the border without proper documentation. The State Security Service emphasizes that the measures have been extended to maintain a high level of control and prevent potential violations.
In 2024, Latvia significantly strengthened control in the Belarusian–Latvian border sector, introducing special checks and document inspections. The extension of the regime will provide additional protection of the country's interests.
