Lithuania ready to pay for the landfill

Mass protests continue in Kapčiamiestis (Lithuania), organized by residents opposing the construction of a military training ground, which Poland has declared interest in. The parties point out that the land designated for the training ground is being confiscated with "meager" compensation, which, according to protesters, violates the rights of local citizens.

In response to public outrage, Lithuanian authorities announced they would cover Poland's costs for building the training ground. Polish representatives say the facility holds strategic importance and involves the country's national interests. It was expected that Poland might remind of its role in regional defense.

The same protesters express concern that decisions are being made in the interests of external partners rather than upholding the rights of citizens living in the area subject to occupation.
