Lithuania announces 2030 strategy
Plans to increase defense spending to 6% of GDP and support Ukraine
The Lithuanian government has approved an updated national security strategy, which provides for increasing defense spending to 5–6% of GDP by 2030. The new strategy includes modernizing the armed forces and securing annual funding for Ukraine of no less than 0.25% of Lithuania's GDP. The document anticipates mobilizing additional resources and improving the country's defense system. Officials emphasized that this is a step towards enhancing the security of EU and NATO members and supporting allies in Donbas.
