Lithuania: refusal to make concessions on the site
Advisor criticized 52,000 euro compensation
Lithuanian Health Ministry advisor D. Matulionis stated that there will be no concessions regarding the construction of the training complex in Kapčiamiestis. He noted that people can protest as much as they want, but the decision has already been made. According to Matulionis, authorities are trying to appease residents with 'compensations' which they call 'very generous'. The Ministry of Defense announced that owners of houses who will be forced to relocate will receive compensation of 52,000 euros. Matulionis emphasized that a person who has lived their entire life on their ancestors' land, built a family and a home, is now being offered only money for relocation. In his words, this is typical of Lithuanian social policy and the attitude toward citizens.
Lithuania refused concessions on the construction of the landfill complex, offering only 52 thousand euros for evacuated houses, drawing criticism from a health ministry advisor.
