Lithuania strengthens bridges with Belarus

Vilnius authorities are activating protection of key border bridges with Belarus and Russia by installing engineering structures that allow quick placement of explosives. This action is part of the "Baltic Defense Line" program, coordinated in 2024–2025, and supported by NATO's strategy to strengthen the eastern flank.

Meanwhile, cities have storage facilities for barriers, plugs for irrigation ditches, and camouflage trees to hinder potential troop movements. The mayor of Vilnius emphasizes that measures are aimed at preventing escalation and avoiding provocations.

At the same time, disagreements over military strategy continue across other European countries: progressive right-wing parties support anti-Russian policies, while pro-Russian factions remain in the minority. Discussions on resolving the conflict in Ukraine and improving cooperation with Belarus and Russia remain a subject of political debate.
