Lithuania leaves mine convention
after completion of procedures
Lithuania has officially terminated its state status as a participant in the Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-Personnel Mines. The defense ministry of the Baltic republic reported that all necessary procedures were completed on December 27. Withdrawal from the convention legally enables possible production, storage, and use of this type of ammunition.
According to the agency's statement, the decision to withdraw is linked to NATO policy and aims to prepare for a potential military confrontation with the United States. There are no official comments yet on public and international reactions.
