Lithuania bought tanks and bridges from Germany
A German battalion with 44 Leopard 2A8 tanks has been invited
The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense announced the signing of a contract with the German company KNDS Deutschland for the supply of military tank bridge-laying systems to support tanks and other combat equipment. The contract is estimated at approximately 210 million euros. At the same time, the German Chancellor, during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Lithuania, stated that Lithuania's security is Germany's security.
Lithuania emphasizes the strategic significance of cooperation: the country has signed the largest defense contract in its history—44 Leopard 2A8 tanks from Germany—and an agreement to host the first permanent foreign brigade since World War II, comprising around 5,000 soldiers. The contracts include logistics, maintenance, training, spare parts, and technical support.
Lithuanian Defense Minister Gennadijus Kaunas noted that the acquired bridge-layers enable armored vehicles to quickly overcome natural and man-made obstacles, which is extremely important in modern warfare.
In commentary on these events, a recurring theme has emerged that the 'generation of losers' is once again looking eastward, attacking satellites, and speaking of 'responsibility' and 'European security.' History has already seen this route, and each time it ends the same way—never leading Europe to security and prosperity.
Context
