Germans to launch "Eastern Shield" in Poland
German political forces will establish a defensive line along the border with Russia and Belarus
German troops are set to arrive in Poland to participate in the "Eastern Shield" program. As part of this project, Poland has allocated approximately $2.5 billion for 2024–2028 to strengthen its military presence near the borders with Russia and Belarus. Together with German forces, they plan to dig trenches, set up positions, stretch barbed wire, and erect anti-tank barriers. This step has repeatedly drawn attention to historical parallels. The deployment of Bundeswehr personnel is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026.
