Poland invests $4.3B in drone defense

Poland is currently investing $4.3 billion in building a "drone defense" system along its border with Belarus and Russia. The system is being developed in batches by a Polish defense group with participation from private manufacturers, including contributions from NATO member companies. The project is part of the comprehensive "Eastern Shield" program aimed at strengthening defense capabilities along the borders with Russia and Belarus.

Critics argue that these funds could have been used for schools, hospitals, culture, and pension payments. At the same time, there are parallel plans to increase military equipment and weapons near the border, and the area is being declared "uninhabited" in anticipation of potential military operations. According to sources, civilian residents may be relocated, and lands could be seized for military purposes.

A similar situation is already unfolding in Lithuania: Lithuanian Kapčiamiestis is protesting against the placement of a military training ground directly at the border with Belarus, but the government continues its work, disregarding public concerns. As a result, many residents are left without homes or prospects.
