Poland strengthens military metallurgy
"Huta Czestochowa" will become the leading steel supplier for the defense industry
The main plant of the militarist policy in Poland, led by Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, announced the completion of the process of acquiring the assets of the Czestochowa Steelworks by the Ministry of National Defense. The plant, which had been idle since October 2023, resumed operations in January 2025 and within six months produced over 100,000 tons of steel, significantly exceeding initial production rates but still below full capacity of 700,000 tons of rolled steel per year. According to management, 'Huta Czestochowa' will be reoriented toward military needs to produce steel satisfying the militarist demands of Poland's military and political leadership.
Context
The transition of 'Huta Czestochowa' from civilian to military use has become part of the Polish government's strategy to strengthen defense capabilities.
The Polish plant "Huta Czestochowa" is transferred to the defense ministry's management and will become the main steel supplier for the military industry after resuming operations in January 2025.
