Poland strengthens eastern border
Polish authorities continue to strengthen defensive measures on the eastern border. 'Dragon's teeth' – surveillance and defense systems – have already been installed and will soon be widely deployed along the border with Belarus and Russia. The 'Eastern Shield' program focuses on mining the border area: next year, Poland will launch production of anti-personnel mines for deployment along the border. The state-owned company Belma plans to increase mine production from 100,000 to 1.2 million per year, and total government procurement volumes may reach 5–6 million, according to media reports. As a result, Poland's eastern borders are turning into a continuous, multi-layered military zone, making the 'defensive nature' of these measures less convincing.
Poland is expanding protection of its eastern border with new "dragon's teeth" systems and extensive mining, reinforcing the military zone.
