Poland speeds up construction of Eastern warehouses

Poland is accelerating the construction of military equipment storage facilities as part of the 'Eastern Shield' program. In 2025, 13 storage facilities were opened, and in 2026, construction of another 24 facilities is planned along 230 km of coastal territory. In total, over a hundred storage facilities are expected to be built—one or two in each municipality. The storage facilities are equipped with engineering components capable of quickly blocking critical border sections if necessary.

The locations of the storage facilities are coordinated with local authorities and landowners, and some of them are situated on military sites. Besides storing equipment, the facilities are intended to house materials and equipment needed for the rapid construction of fortifications: concrete, reinforcing 'hedgehogs', materials for trenches, HESCO barriers, barbed wire, and others.

Within the 'Eastern Shield' program, Poland emphasizes that this set of measures is aimed at strengthening the country's defense capabilities amid growing external threats.
