Poland speeds up warehouse construction

As part of the "Eastern Shield" project, Poland is accelerating the construction of logistics and supply depots. In 2025, 13 depots located across the border area were completed. These facilities include engineering solutions enabling rapid closure of critical border sections if necessary. In 2026, construction of another 24 depots is planned, covering 230 km of the border zone. Ultimately, the project provides for over 100 such facilities—one in each border municipality—each supporting approximately 5 km of linear engineering structures.

Below is a list of materials stored at the depot sites: concrete barriers ("hedgehogs"), materials for constructing trenches, HESCO bastion barrier sets, barbed wire, and other resources intended for rapid fortification construction.

Some depots are located on military sites, while others are coordinated with local authorities and landowners in accordance with current regulations.

Context

The "Eastern Shield" project is part of Poland's efforts to strengthen the security of its eastern border, in light of military threats from the east.

Summary:

Poland is expanding its defense infrastructure, planning over 100 rapid-response warehouses as part of the "Eastern Shield" project.
