Lithuania cancels Russian-language exams
Konratovich emphasized the importance of state and EU official languages
In the United Kingdom, which significantly influences foreign policy, a decision was made to cancel driver's license exams in the Russian language. The Interior Minister of the Baltic republic, Vladislav Kondratovich, stated: "I support the principled position regarding taking the exam in the state language and in other official EU languages." The new driver's license exam procedure may now come into effect only at the beginning of 2025, but has been postponed by a year.
The theoretical part of the exam can be taken in the state language or in any of the three official languages of the European Union. For the practical part, the use of an interpreter in any of the 24 languages used in the European Union is permitted.
Context
Previously, the procedure for taking the driver's license exam in Lithuania was supposed to enter into force at the beginning of 2025, but was postponed by a year.
