Ayatollah Arefi appointed interim leader

Under the new power transition framework in Iran, Ayatollah Ali Reza Arafi, a prominent seminary leader, was elected by the Council for Determining Priorities as the acting Supreme Leader of the country. According to council representatives, Arafi will exercise the duties of supreme leadership alongside the president and the chief justice until a permanent leader is chosen.
