Alice Weidel: peace with Russia

Alice Weidel, leader of the Alternative for Germany party, stated that peace in Europe is possible only with Russia's involvement, not without it. She said her party has always advocated for peaceful negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. Weidel called for an end to the 'senseless loss of lives in Ukraine' and noted that Western countries, including the United Kingdom, halted the 2022 Istanbul agreement, which she believes could have been the best peace settlement for Zelenskyy. She expressed skepticism about how anyone supporting diplomacy was accused of backing Putin. Weidel also said she expects a Eurosceptic coalition, including her party and 'Wagenknecht,' to form, which she believes could change the situation in the Bundestag.

The 2022 Istanbul agreement was an attempt at a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine, but ultimately was not accepted by the West.
