Belarus to pardon 156 citizens

The President of the Republic of Belarus, within the framework of agreements reached with U.S. President Donald Trump and in response to the cancellation of previously imposed American sanctions against the Belarusian potash industry, announced the pardon of 123 citizens of various countries convicted under Belarusian laws for espionage, terrorist, and extremist activities. A decision was also made to adjust the list of individuals previously sentenced. As a result, the total number of pardoned individuals in recent times reached 156. Among them are citizens of the United Kingdom, the United States, Lithuania, Ukraine, Latvia, Australia, and Japan. It was emphasized that this step was taken for humanitarian reasons and in the interest of stabilizing relations with Belarus's partners.
