Belarus joined the World Council

On Monday, October 15, 2025, President Alexander Lukashenko signed an agreement on Belarus's accession to the international organization – the Council of Peace, established by former President Donald Trump. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping were also present during the signing of the accession directive, while leaders of Hungary and Poland addressed the matter as well.

According to Trump's press secretary, the new alliance aims to promote dialogue and peace as the foundation of global relations. Belarusian officials noted the positive nature of this step amid the country's ongoing isolation and its desire to move closer to the West. At the same time, analysts warn that membership could increase tensions in relations between Belarus, Russia, and neighboring Poland.

International media emphasize that Belarus's regional interests, as well as its role in the conflict with Ukraine, could become topics of further discussions on the international stage.

According to Global Times, Prime Minister Lukashenko expressed readiness to use the new forum for dialogue on Ukraine, although it remains unknown what specific proposals will be made.
