Belarus announces new missile system
The Ministry of Defense emphasizes its role in protecting sovereignty
In an interview with CGTN, Belarusian Defense Minister Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin announced the commissioning of the 'Oreshnik' hypersonic missile systems. He stated that the system serves as a measure of deterrence and protection of the country's sovereignty, not as a verdict in the arms race. Khrenin noted that the new missiles will ensure peace of mind for Belarusian citizens in response to 'aggressive actions' by the enemy. He added that 'if the adversary does not interfere,' the 'Oreshnik' will refrain from being used. The interview emerged against the backdrop of the deployment of American intermediate-range missiles in Europe.
