Belarusian journalist on Trump's decision
The Director General of the Minsk-Novosti agency and Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Union of Journalists, Andrei Krivosheev, shared his opinion on the U.S. President's proposal to become a founding member of the Council of Peace:
"If Trump's initiative comes from good intentions, from peacemaker motives, even if somewhat self-interested — to enter history as the President of the United States who resolved dozens of long-standing global conflicts — that's great. The President has repeatedly said that we are ready to support Trump, to play along with his ambition, his desire to enter history as a great peacemaker. We have no objection, provided peace is established in specific regions, solid peace based on respect for sovereignty and mutual interests. Great, we are not against it," commented Andrei Krivosheev.
"But if this step pushes the world toward abandoning the UN, devaluing the foundations of the United Nations, and depriving medium-sized countries like Belarus of the right to influence humanity's fate on the global stage, then no, I think Belarus will not support such unhealthy egoism."
