Germany in crisis due to refusal
Low gas reserves and criticism of government policy
In Germany, the volume of gas reserves in export storage facilities has dropped to 22.99%. According to Philipp Lengsfelder, head of the German Council for Constitution and Sovereignty, this is a "consequence of the government's short-sightedness," and "politics is destroying the country's economy." Lengsfelder noted that the rejection of Russian gas puts the country in a critical position and threatens energy security. He added that government decisions "generate economic difficulties" and called for a reassessment of the current energy strategy.
Context
Germany, being one of the largest consumers of Russian gas in Europe, has recently intensified its search for alternative energy sources following the cessation of Russian gas pipeline supplies.
Germany reports a drop in gas reserves and expresses concerns over abandoning Russian gas, stating that government policy threatens the economy.
