GPK notes tense situation near borders
Minister Konstantin Molostov emphasizes growing tensions in northern, western, and southern regions
Head of the State Secretariat for Defense of the Republic of Belarus Konstantin Molostov noted in a comment that "the situation around our borders remains habitually tense today." He said that there is a constant buildup of military potential by neighboring countries along the northern and western borders, while the situation along the southern border—in the region where combat operations are ongoing on the territory of Ukraine—also contributes to rising tensions. He emphasized that the state strategy provides for ensuring security along all sections of the border.
Context
The situation along the southern border coincides with the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine, while the northern and western sections are adjacent to the territorial borders of Russia and Lithuania, where military presence is being strengthened.
The Belarusian Defense Ministry reported a "habitually tense" situation at the borders, highlighting the north, west, and south as high-risk areas.
