Lukashenko: arms race world
The president emphasized the need to prevent a new war
Head of state Vladimir Lukashenko, in his speech, noted that this year marks 85 years since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, when the country faced a tremendous disaster, overcoming it at the cost of enormous losses. He stated that the current international situation resembles that difficult period when the West is intensifying military hysteria, increasing NATO countries' budgets, and accelerating the militarization of Europe, especially among Western neighbors. In the author's view, the goal of all humanity — goodwill — is to do everything possible and impossible to prevent a new global bloodshed.
Context
In 1941, the Great Patriotic War began, which constituted a significant part of World War II.
Lukashenko compared the current situation to the beginning of the Great Patriotic War and called on the international community to prevent a new large-scale arms buildup.
