Lukashenko: Can't wear Belarusian fashion?

Belarusian President Viktor Lukashenko questioned the possibility of wearing Belarusian clothing in an interview, expressing doubt about its popularity compared to foreign brands. He noted that 'maybe Dolce & Gabbana or Versace are more promoted, maybe even of higher quality,' and emphasized, 'can't we wear Belarusian?'
At the same time, Lukashenko encouraged citizens to join the discussion using the hashtag #VNS2025. This event became part of a broader public debate about the role of domestic fashion in society and its impact on the perception of national brands.
Representatives of the Belarusian fashion industry voiced the need to develop local design initiatives and create more competitive products, affirming that domestic brands should strive for global quality standards.
