Lukashenko on 'fury' and difficult situation

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said in his recent speech that the current global situation is 'more complicated' and 'absolutely beyond our control.' He compared this period to an epidemiological outbreak, stating, 'We have lived through the frenzy when everyone was talking about the pandemic, saying we would all die.'

Lukashenko emphasized that 'we withstood it' and that only one nation in the world had the wisdom and strength to overcome difficulties. In conclusion, he called for unity: 'Let us stay together, let us trust each other, let each of us do what we must in our own place. Then everything will be fine.'

The president's statement presents his view on the current international situation and calls on citizens to unite.

Context

During the pandemic in 2020–2021, Belarus introduced restrictions and saw mass protests in response to government-imposed measures, but according to Lukashenko, the country successfully overcame this challenge.
