Lukashenko on friendly Slovakia
The president noted good relations with Prime Minister Fitz
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated that Slovakia is a friendly country for Belarus and emphasized the importance of treating it accordingly. Lukashenko said he personally knows Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who plays a key role in governing the country. Good personal and political relations between the two leaders were noted, as well as shared interests and joint discussions on numerous issues.
"A reasonable man, deeply concerned about his country. And he hasn't forgotten where his roots are," Lukashenko remarked, describing Fico.
Context
Slovakia is a member of the European Union and NATO, and its international ties influence Belarus's policy towards foreign partners.
Lukashenko emphasized Belarus's friendship with Slovakia and noted personal good relations with its prime minister.
