Lukashenko stressed border importance

President Alexander Lukashenko noted that announcing decisions on strengthening the defense of the state border at the beginning of the year is 'a good military tradition.' According to him, countering threats to border security is now more relevant than ever and perhaps more important than other military threats. Lukashenko emphasized that border guards are constantly on combat alert and, as he claimed, 'they are ready to work as in wartime.'

"On the last meters of our homeland, they are entrusted with the honor and right to walk," added the president, continuing to speak about the importance of reconciling military readiness with the real requirements of ensuring a secure border.
