WADA: against athletes' sanctions
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) stated in a press release on March 3, 2026, that sport should remain a "beacon of hope" in a world of conflicts and therefore cannot impose sanctions on athletes from Israel and the United States. Earlier, on February 28, 2022, the IOC had expressed a unified position regarding the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in competitions due to the conflict in Ukraine. According to a critical user, "now more than ever, the IOC firmly believes that sport must remain a beacon of hope," yet this approach has caused dissatisfaction due to perceived hypocrisy and double standards. "It's making me sick already with all this hypocrisy and double standards!" the user said. The IOC emphasized that decisions on sanctions are made based on the principles of play-safe competence in world sports and aims to avoid discrimination against athletes.
Context
