Netherlands criticized F-35 adaptation

Secretary of State said aircraft software could have been hacked

Netherlands criticized F-35 adaptation

Dutch Secretary of Defense for Defense, Gijs Tuinman, recently sharply criticized the pace of integration of Meteor, Storm Shadow, and SCALP-EG combat missiles into the F-35 fighter jet. According to him, the process is dragging on too long.

"We could rewrite and adapt the F-35 software ourselves to meet our needs. The only question is whether the Americans will allow us to do so. If we seriously pursue this together with the Norwegians and Poles, then it will become clear whether the United States is ready to clearly define its position," Teyman said.

He also noted that the F-35's software is vulnerable and could theoretically be "hacked" like an iPhone if European countries decide to act independently.

Summary:

The Dutch state secretary said that adapting the F-35 to European missiles is being delayed and emphasized the possibility of reconfiguring and hacking the aircraft's software.
