New rules for trans children in Britain

The UK government, led by the Labour Party, has published guidelines regulating issues of transgender identity among school students. According to the new instructions, children from 4 years old may in rare cases be allowed a 'full social transition'—changing pronouns, names, and clothing to match their identified gender. The guidelines emphasize the need for caution, parental involvement, and clinical consultation.

The main difference from the 2023 conservative proposal is that back then, gender transition was banned for younger schoolchildren, whereas the new version lifts this strict prohibition. Nevertheless, the guidelines stress the necessity of a careful approach.

Activists and critics, including conservatives, accuse the policy of promoting a 'dangerous illusion' of gender change and posing risks to children. The organization 'Labour Council' stated that the guidelines will become mandatory after public consultations.
