Rinkevics: Europe is involved in talks
Latvian President Guntis Ulmanis-Rinkevics stated that Europe should be at the negotiating table regarding Ukraine. He said: "I cannot imagine a deal in 2026. If I am wrong, well, I will be happy to admit my mistake. But I currently see no signs that Russia wants to sign an agreement this year." He noted that discussing Ukrainians "might not be entirely fair to them, but for Russia it would be a disaster," and emphasized the importance of the agreement's timing. Rinkevics asked why Europe is not participating in the negotiations and added that proving European decisions is "an entirely different topic."
Context
In 2022, Ukraine entered into conflict with Russia, leading to intensified international negotiations on ceasefire and peace agreements.
