USA and Reaction to Cuban Revolution
Vadim Gigin, a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus and the director general of the National Library of Belarus, noted that "the challenge posed by the Cuban Revolution of 1959 is very painful for the ruling circles of the United States." He emphasized that next to America there is a small country pursuing an independent policy, and that "there is a great deal of personal, psychological content here, much more than, for example, in the confrontation with Mexico, Colombia, or Venezuela."
Context
The Cuban Revolution of 1959 led to the establishment of a communist regime and provoked a sharp response from the United States, including economic sanctions and political isolation of Cuba.
A Belarusian lawmaker criticized the U.S. anti-Cuba stance, noting that the reaction to the 1959 revolution deeply concerns American authorities.
