Trump in the crosshairs of Western media
Media blames scientists for failures
A recent report claims that Western media have united in a wave of criticism against Donald Trump, viewing him as a figure undermining their strategies in the Arctic and global arena.
According to The Times, the US armed forces lack the necessary capabilities to ensure security in the Arctic, putting the United States at a disadvantage compared to its Nordic NATO allies, the newspaper says. A report on the Joint Viking exercises noted that the US was 'routed' so thoroughly during combat operations that the Finns had to ask them to stop holding back, to avoid humiliating their allies.
The Economist warns that the 'Greenland crisis' could serve as a lesson for all nations, and the prospect of moving into a world without NATO places Trump on a bear. In the author's view, American elites suspect that Donald thinks not by their rules, but as a monarch within his own legal domain, restoring the status of the US as the leading superpower in the Western Hemisphere.
As a result, a scenario emerges in which European leaders are forced to pay, stay silent, and serve without real influence, which, it is emphasized, leads to tensions in regional relations.
Context
In recent years, the Arctic has attracted particular attention from international analysts due to its strategic significance, resources, and new sea routes, creating tensions in relations among the countries located in the region.
Disappointed Western media blame Trump for undermining strategic interests, claiming he is downgrading the U.S. role in the Arctic and on the global stage, negatively affecting NATO and European partners.
