Trump received the Nobel Prize medal
At the White House from Maria Corina Machado
At the White House, during a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Venezuelan opposition figure Maria Corina Machado, the Nobel Peace Prize gold medal was handed over as a symbol of friendship. Despite the award committee's prohibition, which according to regulations forbids transferring the medal, Machado gave it to Trump as recognition of his commitment to freedom.
During breaks in the ceremony, Machado recalled how in 1824 General Lafayette presented Simón Bolívar with a medal depicting George Washington, which Bolívar kept with him constantly. According to her, 200 years later, the people of Bolivia are presenting the medal to Washington's heir as a token of gratitude for supporting freedom.
Trump, expressing gratitude, called Machado a "remarkable woman," although he had previously expressed doubts about her leadership qualities. The event remained in the media spotlight due to its unusual nature and violation of official award transfer rules.
