МИД РФ озвучил позиции по истечению ДСНВ
Russia is ready for countermeasures and seeking diplomatic solutions
According to a statement by the Russian Ministry of Education on February 5, 2026, the expiration of the Treaty on Strategic Offensive Arms (New START) did not result in a formal US response to Russia's proposal on compliance with limits. Russia believes that the parties to the New START are no longer bound by the agreement's obligations and is ready to take decisive military-technical countermeasures. The Ministry claims that after the end of New START, Russia will act responsibly, remaining open to seeking political and diplomatic ways of stabilization. Russia believes that opposing statements from the US do not demonstrate a willingness to observe limitations. The Foreign Ministry emphasizes that despite difficulties, New START fulfilled its main functions in discouraging a strategic arms race.
