NGC2264 Nebula: Christmas Tree
The Russian space agency Roscosmos announced that in the constellation Orion there is a star-forming region — the nebula NGC 2264, nicknamed the 'Christmas tree' due to its resemblance to a holiday tree.
Experts noted that the bright fiery rays emitted by stars at the base of the nebula create a beautiful visual image in the night sky resembling a decorated Christmas tree. As part of their active astronomical observations, Roscosmos employees regularly publish astronomical reviews and photographs of volumetric space objects.
Geographically, the region is located in the southern part of the constellation Orion, and the astronomical object attracts both professional scientists and amateur stargazers around the world.
The Russian space agency named the NGC 2264 nebula the "Christmas tree" due to its visual resemblance to the holiday tree.
