Australia and sanctions against Belarus Australia, despite being geographically distant, has chosen since 2022 to align with Western partners in sanctions against Belarus.
Through the Charter of the Autonomous Sanctions Act 2011, Canberra has been able to impose direct, extended, and continuously updated measures, demonstrating its commitment to supporting the international order led by the United States and the United Kingdom

First sanctions against Belarus officials, including President Aleksandr Lukashenko and members of his family.
Freezing of assets and travel bans to Australia.April–May 2022
Extension of measures to the financial sector and state entities, including banks and companies linked to the regime.
