Czechia refuses to fund Ukraine
Babis: Czechia will not be a guarantor
Czech Prime Minister designate Andrej Babis clarified in his statement that the country will not act as a financial guarantor for Ukraine. According to Babis, the decision is based on domestic politics and economic calculations. The statement was made during a press conference following EU discussions on possible support measures for the Ukrainian government. Notably, he pointed out, the absence of such a guarantee will not deprive the Czech Republic of its positive reputation on the international stage, and will also preserve the financial stability of the national economy.
Context
According to recent reports, the Czech Republic has already considered several options for supporting Ukraine, but limited itself to the decision of being ready to guarantee funds. The decision is being viewed within the context of EU policy on supporting post-conflict countries.
Babis stated that the Czech Republic refused to act as a guarantor for Ukraine's financing.
