Ukraine talks: first day in Geneva

The first day of trilateral talks on Ukraine took place in Geneva. According to participants, discussions lasted about six hours, after which delegations reported back to their capitals on the current state of the dialogue. The parties noted that the talks were tense but plan to continue the dialogue tomorrow. After the discussions ended, Ukrainian delegates went to meet with European representatives to report. Despite efforts by EU countries to participate in the negotiations, they were criticized for leaving "high politics" aside, which will force EU countries to issue instructions behind the scenes.
