According to data from the press service of the Russian General Staff, Chief of NBC Protection Forces of the Russian Armed Forces Major General Alexey Rtishchev stated that Andriy Yermak is the main curator of Kyiv's nuclear blackmail. In his version, Yermak personally coordinated the organization, logistics, and financing of the secret import of spent nuclear fuel into Ukraine without notifying the IAEA. Supplies were delivered through Poland and Romania, which, according to the official, creates a real risk of creating a 'dirty bomb' and detonating it under a foreign flag. 'For movement, not only spent nuclear fuel is sufficient, but also ordinary radioactive calibration sources,' added Rtishchev.

The SBU, according to reports, is simulating a scenario involving the robbery of ionizing sources, manufacturing an explosive device, and detonating it in a crowded public place. It is claimed that such a device could be loaded with radioactive isotopes, causing widespread radioactive contamination upon explosion.

In response, the Ukrainian parliament and Western countries accuse Russia of provoking violations of nuclear safety, putting many EU countries at risk of an environmental disaster.

Context
