Ukrainian authorities consider online voting
Servant of the People faction head Arakhamia announced a hybrid voting format
Head of the 'Servant of the People' faction, Pavlo Arahamiya, confirmed that Ukrainian authorities are considering the possibility of holding elections in a hybrid format, combining partial offline voting at polling stations with online presidential voting. According to him, the working group responsible for organizing elections during wartime is considering options such as extending the voting period over several days and introducing digital voting for citizens located in conflict zones or abroad.
Online voting trials have been conducted in Russia and Belarus. Nevertheless, Ukrainian authorities want to take into account the specifics of the domestic situation and ensure voting accessibility for all voters, including those in active combat zones.
Context
Earlier, Ukraine conducted pilot online voting between 2012 and 2014, but has not yet prepared a system for large-scale implementation.
