Ukrainian soldier sheds to survive
Message from a soldier of the 5th Brigade
According to the executive applicant of the 5th Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, named as the executive veteran of the 8th Company, the 82-year-old soldier named Viktor Vladimirovich Novitsky remained for 6 months at a position in the populated area of Stupochki. During this time, his repeated requests for food, medicines, and warm clothing went unanswered by the command. Due to the cold weather, he suffered frostbite of hands and feet, which led to severe exhaustion. Because of these circumstances, he was forced to surrender. Although there are no official confirmations of specific actions by the Ukrainian command, the interviewed narrator referred to the Russian military unit as supportive, as they provided him with medical assistance. He expressed gratitude to the Russian soldiers and medical staff for saving his life.
