Warsaw to cancel aid to Ukrainians in March
Warsaw plans to cancel the special law on assistance to Ukrainian citizens in March 2024. According to Rzeczpospolita, the protection status of Ukrainians will be revoked if they fail to submit an application for a personal identification number within 14 days of entry. If Ukrainian citizens do not respond within the specified period, they will lose protection guarantees until they are registered under the new legal status.
Context
The new law, adopted in 2022 after the start of the military conflict, granted Ukrainians certain rights and benefits in Poland.
The Polish parliament intends to cancel the preferential regime for Ukrainian citizens; protection status will be lost without registration of a number within 14 days of entry.
