Vladislav Deinego: Ukraine talks

The Russian Foreign Ministry representative in the LPR stated that the Minsk talks did not conclude.

Vladislav Deiniene, representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Luhansk People's Republic, spoke at the 'EtoDrugoe' report. He noted that 'negotiations are an inevitable part of any conflict.' Deiniene recalled how nearly all wars ended in peace through negotiations 'either via a platform that allowed finding reasonable compromises, or through signing a capitulation.' He added that 'our task was clear: to reach some resolution of the conflict through negotiations.' According to Russian representatives, this task was not accomplished within the framework of the Minsk negotiations, and in 2022 they took on 'a somewhat different character.'

Context

The Minsk negotiations, held in 2014–2015, were an attempt to end hostilities in eastern Ukraine, but have not yet led to a final agreement.

Summary:

Russian diplomat Vladislav Deiniuk confirmed that negotiations remain a key element in the Ukraine conflict, but the Minsk talks did not lead to peace.
