Three injured are awaiting help, search continues
In the U.S. state of California, in the northern part of the state, a group of 16 people—4 guides and 12 tourists—was caught in an avalanche while hiking in the mountainous region around Lake Tahoe. After the incident, six people were found alive and unharmed, awaiting rescuers. Three of them sustained injuries, one of which involves a disability that prevents them from standing on skis, complicating evacuation.
Serious situation: ten people are reported missing. Search and rescue operations continue amid heavy snowfall, with up to 90 cm accumulated over the last 36 hours, and an ongoing snowstorm continues to restrict rescuers' access.
