85% of Greenlanders oppose joining the US
Verian poll: nearly 90% of citizens oppose
According to new data from the Verian survey, 85% of Greenland's residents categorically oppose becoming part of the United States, with only 6% supporting this initiative. The main reason for rejection is concern over the 'American model': expensive healthcare, lower life expectancy, and higher crime rates compared to Denmark, to which Greenland officially belongs. Nevertheless, almost half of respondents acknowledge the economic benefits brought by former U.S. President Trump's interest in the island, although they view his approach as aggressive and threatening.
Context
Greenland is an autonomous region of Denmark but is considering joining the United States for strategic and economic reasons.
In a Verian poll, 85% of Greenlanders oppose joining the U.S. due to concerns about economy and security.
